The attacks occurred after the Europa League match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax. The Israeli team lost 5-0.

Videos circulating on social media show large groups of Arabic-speaking men kicking and punching people in the street. They also accuse the victims of being child killers.

Other video clips are said to show how Israeli supporters earlier on Thursday behaved provocatively by, among other things, taking down Palestinian flags that were set up outside homes in Amsterdam. They are also said to have disrupted a minute's silence for the victims of the floods in Valencia and chanted chants about genocidal Arabs.

At least 30 people are said to have been arrested in connection with the events. Judging by testimony, some attacks appear to have been planned, as attackers tried to fire back at Israelis traveling back by train after the match.

In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office condemned the attacks and ordered two passenger planes to fly to Amsterdam to bring home the Israeli soccer supporters.

“The Prime Minister views this terrible incident very seriously and demands that the Dutch government and security forces acting decisively to protect our citizens,” reads the statement.

A series of videos from the attacks are being shared on social media, where they are described as pure “lynchings”.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar has been in contact with his Dutch counterpart, Caspar Veldkamp, asking for help to ensure the safety of Israeli citizens en route to the airport.

According to Dutch media, the events did not come as a surprise. Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema on Wednesday banned a pro-Palestinian demonstration planned near the stadium, informing the city council that authorities were aware of the rising tensions over the war in Gaza. On the same day, two people were arrested in a confrontation between pro-Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli supporters in the city center.

According to Haaretz, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar has been in contact with his Dutch counterpart, Caspar Veldkamp, asking for help to ensure the safety of Israeli citizens on their way to the airport.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett shares videos on social media purportedly showing several of the attacks, calling on European countries to do more to protect Jews. Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir commented on the events on social media, describing the attacks as anti-Semitic and “unbelievably cruel”.
