Police employed immigrant created fake passports

Domestic. A 50-year-old Arab passport officer at the police authority in Norrköping is charged with serious falsification of documents after producing seven fake passports.

Two people who did not are police employees are also charged with serious falsification of documents, primarily as accomplices and secondarily as aides in the production of the passports.

According to the prosecutor, the crimes are serious, among other things, because the acts took place at the passport office with serious abuse of position and loss of trust, or risk of such, for Swedish passports and the state vis-à-vis other EU members, among others.

One of the Arabs who received a fake passport, immediately used it to enter the EU via Düsseldorf, Germany. Something that has now embarrassed Sweden and the reputation of Swedish passports in Germany.

– It is very serious if trust in Swedish passports is damaged. It is not at all good that a fake Swedish passport of the highest quality has been produced with the police's own equipment and then used by an unknown person when entering Düsseldorf across the external EU border, says Chief Prosecutor Nicklas Englund at the Special Prosecutor's Chamber, in a press release.< /p>

The suspected crimes took place in May-June 2023 at the passport office in Norrköping.
