The type of beer, called “Mannen i CP-trucken”, has caused a complainant to be offended and consider the whole thing to be discrimination.
Behind the beer name is Nyköping resident Johan Öberg, a writer and entrepreneur who himself is CP damaged. Öberg has built his brand around this name, which he also uses to sell clothes and other products, as well as for his autobiographical books.
Öberg has explained that the purpose of the brand and the beer name is to raise awareness of CP- injuries.
“The man in the CP truck” is described as a brown ale with a malty taste and hints of dark bread, chocolate, dates and nougat. The variety is available locally in Nyköping and can also be ordered online.
Johan Öberg comments on the matter in writing for Sörmlands Nyheter:
“Damn, it was nothing further. The complainant apparently doesn't know that I I have a CP injury myself. I would hardly offend myself. It's sad, but the more crap you experience in life, the nicer it is when you've made it through life.” it doesn't matter that Öberg himself is CP-damaged, but considers it offensive anyway. Izquierdo himself has “a relative with mild CP damage”, according to the local newspaper.
The system company has confirmed that they are aware of the report, but have declined to comment on the matter while it is being investigated. The Discrimination Ombudsman will now review the matter.
