Here the half-naked man climbs the Eiffel Tower

Foreign. The Eiffel Tower had to be evacuated on Sunday – just hours before the planned end of the Olympics. The reason was that a half-naked man was climbing the Olympic rings placed below the second section of the tower.

It was around three in the afternoon that security personnel discovered the man, who, despite the extensive security measures, managed to climb Paris's most iconic landmark.

Photos from the incident show the man in climbing gear and shirtless when he is just above the Olympic rings on the tower.

Visitors at the site were quickly evacuated. Some who were on the second floor of the tower were kept there before being allowed to leave the scene after about 30 minutes.

The man was later arrested by police and led away from the scene, AP reports.

OS in Paris has been marked by a heavy security effort, with tens of thousands of police deployed around the city and at the arenas.
