Immigrant women receive personal midwives

– It's a group of women with more medical complications, says Maria Ström, midwife at Södertälje hospital, to SVT Nyheter Södertälje.

Pregnant women born abroad have a special reception at Södertälje hospital where they are offered special treatment, which is unique in Stockholm County.< /p>

– They can come here for the birth in a two-hour appointment. They get to see a delivery room and ask their questions, and we get the opportunity to inform them about women's rights. It provides a completely different sense of security, says Maria Ström to SVT.

Almost half (43.3 percent, 2023) of the residents of Södertälje are foreign-born, so it is a significant group that has access to the privilege.< /p>
