In an interview with the Hungarian radio station Kossuth Rádió, Orbán states that Germany has changed significantly in the last ten years.
Orbán points out that Germany is no longer the country that today's Hungarians' parents and grandparents looked up to.
The country smells and tastes no longer as before, according to the conservative Hungarian leader.
– Today, Germany is a world characterized by diversity and multiculturalism, where immigrants are no longer just guests, he says.
Furthermore Orbán expresses concern about the warmongering mood that he believes prevails in Germany.
– The idea that Germany could become involved in a war was unthinkable three years ago, he says, noting that Germans who criticize the country's confrontational course with Russia is being silenced.
Orbán also accused the German media of contributing to this development.
During his visit on Friday, Viktor Orbán will meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to, among other things, prepare Hungary's EU presidency, which begins on July 1.
Hungary and Germany have traditionally had good relations. Hungary was the first country in the former socialist Eastern Bloc to allow GDR citizens to travel to the West. However, the relationship between the two countries has deteriorated since the asylum chaos in 2015 and the radicalization of liberalism since then.
