UWV will now hide personal data on CVs on werk.nl

The Employee Insurance Agency will stop showing personal data from CVs to employers who are looking for employees via werk.nl. The agency is doing this after a data breach in which 150,000 CVs were accessed.

The UWV writes: “To protect personal data and privacy, we will no longer show the personal data on CVs to employers from now on.” From now on, potential employers can no longer see the name, gender, address and email address of job seekers via werk.nl. A job seeker can indicate that their telephone number remains visible.

The change in question came into effect on May 15. Just under a week earlier, it was announced that a user of the UWV platform werk.nl had unauthorizedly viewed and possibly downloaded 150,000 CVs. The government agency informed victims a few days later.
