The Dutch chain Ranzijn Veterinarian reports that it has fallen victim to a cyber attack in which personal and animal data have been stolen. The vet has informed those affected by an email, which Tweakers has been able to view.
Several tweakers report that they have received an email from the vet containing details about the data breach. For example, the company reports that it has been the target of a cyber attack 'by a criminal group'. In that attack, the criminals gained access to an internal system, where names, address details, e-mail addresses, correspondence and information about pets may have been stolen. The company emphasizes that no payment details or other financial information has been leaked. Ranzijn Veterinarian has reported it to the Dutch Data Protection Authority and says he has called in external experts.
Ranzijn garden & Dier is a chain of garden shops and pet shops, which in most cases also includes a veterinary practice, grooming salon and dog wash. As far as we know, only customers of the veterinary practice were victims of the data breach.
