Stupid EU caps arouse anger against Arla

Consumer. Stuck caps on milk cartons lead to splashes and spills and have upset many after the EU introduced mandatory legislation banning removable caps on packaging.

The stuck corks seem to upset the most south of Stockholm, where they work especially poorly.

– If you live in Stockholm or up in the country, you have a cork that many people think works a little better, and if you live longer down in the country, it's a cork that many think works a little worse, says Arla's press manager Max Wallenberg to Sveriges Radio.

Plastic caps are some of the most common plastic products found during beach cleanups, which led to the EU ban. However, it is not clear whether the lids come from the West – or rather are dumped in the sea in the third world.

According to EU regulations, the lid must remain attached to the packaging for the entire life of the packaging.
