Apple would like to release a foldable version of the iPhone in early 2027. The company is said to have now assigned employees who were working on the Vision Pro-VR headset to the foldable iPhone project.
The step should stimulate the development of the foldable iPhone, Digitimes reports. The foldable iPhone has already been postponed, because while it was initially supposed to be launched at the end of 2026, Alphabiz recently reported that the release date has been moved to early 2027. The Vision Pro was released in the US in February.
There have been rumors about a foldable iPhone for years. There would already be first prototypes. Apple itself has not said anything about it yet. It has reportedly been working on foldable iPhones for years and has been gradually developing them since 2018. The tech company is also said to be in discussions with a supplier in Asia for parts for two iPhone foldables of different sizes. Competitors on the smartphone market almost all already have foldable smartphones in their range. Market leader Samsung has had this since 2019.
