He was at the time and is still at large – despite being able to sit behind bars for previous crimes. Othman is the brother of Mahmoud Asalya, who was recently convicted of the murder of 43-year-old Joullnar.

Brother Mahmoud Asalya murdered Joullnar Gorgis and buried her body.
The On February 29, two men were murdered in Nässjö, after which the apartment was set on fire.
The Palestinian Othman Asalya has been detained in his absence for the crime.
But according to P4 Jönköping, the detained 35-year-old could have already been locked up and the double murder prevented. Already a year ago, he would have been put on trial for a brutal robbery attempt against a woman in Jönköping. The woman stated during questioning that the robber forced his way into her apartment, held a knife to her throat and taped her face. She says she thought she was going to die. However, a neighbor stopped the robbery by ringing the doorbell.
The trial in the robbery case has been postponed no less than three times – because Othman Asalya stated that he was suffering from a herniated disc and therefore could not participate. Despite that, he has made long flights and traveled abroad with his family, according to P4 Jönköping.
– If he was convicted, it would probably lead to him receiving a long prison sentence, says Sven-Erik Alhem, chairman of Brottsofferjouren to the channel .
Othman Asalya is the brother of Mahmoud Asalya, 22, who murdered Joullnar Gorgis – a 43-year-old woman who disappeared from her home in Gothenburg last February. Joullnar was bound and strangled. The body was found a month later buried in Taberg south of Jönköping. In February, Mahmoud Asalya was sentenced to 18 years in prison and deportation for murder and grave breach of peace.
The Asalya family is described in the police preliminary investigation into the murder of Joullnar as notorious, criminal and dangerous in Palestine, where they are called “mountain men” and said to have been known to be used by Hamas to harm civilians.
