Rumor: Apple is negotiating with Google for Gemini AI in iOS 18

Apple would make a deal with Google to build Gemini into iOS 18. That would provide AI functions that require an internet connection, reports financial news agency Bloomberg. Apple would build all AI functions that work offline.

A deal has not yet been closed, Bloomberg reports. Apple would like to use Gemini to, among other things, generate images and texts with text prompts. The iPhone maker is also said to have spoken with OpenAI, but is now in active negotiations with Google.

Apple wants to put many AI functions in iOS 18. Gemini would mean a new big deal between the two companies . Apple and Google have had a deal since the first iPhone that makes Google's search engine the default search engine on iPhones. Google pays Apple a lot of money for this and makes money from the advertisements around the search engine.
