IP, ultrafast charging stations in its service stations: IPLANET is born

IP wants to make its refueling stations multi-energy and multi-service hubs capable of satisfying mobility needs Italians. For this reason, it intends to electrify the service areas on the roads. urban and extra-urban. To achieve this objective, IP has signed an agreement with Macquarie Capital, an investor and consultant in the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors, to establish IPLANET, a 50/50 joint venture for the electrification of service areas.

THE PROJECT

Initially, the new company will be made up of 510 IP service areas throughout Italy which will be updated to introduce charging points for electric vehicles. The goal is to conclude this work by 2032.

The charging infrastructure will be installed in service stations located on the roads. urban and extra-urban in proximity to of commercial or densely trafficked areas. We will aim to make available150 kW and 300 kW columns. The adaptation of the stations should already begin by the end of this year.

The service areas where the charging points will be installed thanks to the work of IPLANET, will also be equipped with solar panels and storage batteries< /strong> to better manage the use of renewable energy.

In the service areas, while charging, electric users will also be able to benefit from other services, such as catering, shops and car care. For the installation of the charging stations, IP obtained funding of 29.3 million euros within the EU Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) project. Ugo Brachetti Peretti, President of IP, commented:

With IPLANET, our vision of the service station as a key infrastructure of the transition takes shape: a multi-energy and multi-service hub ready to satisfy the different mobility needs of the world. Italians. This agreement, together with the acquisition of ESSO's Italian assets, gives our Group the size and capacity operational measures necessary to spread mobility sustainable: from electric to increasingly more traditional fuels clean, from biofuels to hydrogen.

Roberto Purcaro, Executive Director, Infrastructure & Energy Capital and Head of Macquarie Capital Italy, added:

By 2030, Italy aims to have 6.6 million electric cars in circulation and over 160,000 EV charging points installed in the whole country. We continue to support companies in their energy transition plans and through this joint venture with IP, we intend to play a key role in contributing to the achievement of these ambitious goals, which constitute an important part of the decarbonisation of the transport sector.
