According to the official figures, 10 percent more people received residence permits in the first quarter of 2023, compared to the same period last year when the country was governed by an S government.

The Tidö parties' promised “paradigm shift” in immigration policy has hardly been noticed at all.

Compared to when Morgan Johansson (S) was migration minister, for example, the number of those who received residence permits as “connection cases” increased by as much as 29 percent now that Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) holds the post.

This is reported by Samtiden, which is the Sweden Democrats' online newspaper. Contemporary editorial writer Dick Erixon asks in an editorial what happened to the paradigm shift. He claims, however, that the SD “lies on” the government about this.

“The government must now step up. If you do what you promised, the tone from the Sweden Democrats will be milder. Then the Swedish people will also get what was shown to people in the election campaign,” writes Dick Erixon.

The Time Bluff

  • S: The government should clarify whether immigration should be reduced or not
  • Johan Pehrson: The Tidö Agreement's immigration policy is not intended to implemented
  • Charlie Weimers: The moderates' EU pact leads to increased immigration
  • Kent Ekeroth: Equal mass immigration despite SD-backed government
  • Continued immigration with SD at the helm
