During the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos this week many have questioned the legitimacy of the unelected group of elites bent on telling the people of the world how to live their lives.

One of those expressing such sentiments is Twitter CEO Elon Musk, who warns that the World Economic Forum may be going too far in its effort to completely reshape global economies and societies to limit the risk of climate and other threats.

< p>Musk tweeted: “WEF is increasingly becoming an unelected world government that people never asked for and do not want.”

His comments were in response to a video in which WEF founder Klaus Schwab and other members of elite discussed the organization's new “Global Collaboration Village” in the Metaverse, a virtual world built by Meta, the parent company of Facebook.

In the clip, Schwab explained that the WEF's virtual community could be trusted because the international police organization INTERPOL would work closely with them to ensure everything was safe.

Ahead of this year's annual meeting, Musk said he believed there was “value” in having a forum where government and business leaders could mingle, but conceded that the WEF “give me some discomfort vibes ar”.

WEF was founded by Schwab in 1971. This year's event has brought together the usual group of climate activists, Ukrainian government officials, journalists from the traditional media and IT industry executives.
