“Sony announces Action Cam with 4k resolution”

Sony has at CES with two new Action Cams announced: the FDR-X1000V and HDR-AS200V. Both models include improved stabilization and a 170-gradengroothoeklens. The X1000V can record video at a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels at 30fps.

Both models can handle Sony’s xavc-s video codec, which is based on level 5.2 h264 mpeg-4 avc and higher bitrates support avchd. Both the X1000V as the AS200V offers slow-motion video, albeit at different resolutions. The X1000V can record full hd with 120fps recording and 720p at 240fps. The AS200V is that 720p with 120fps and 800×480 pixels with 240 fps and 60 fps on full hd.

Sony claims that the new Action Cams include an enhanced SteadyShot stabilization. The stabilization is based on Electronic Image Stabilisation and is, according to Sony three times as effective as the previous generation. This would be ideal for capturing fast motion, but Sony hint on the use with drones, because the stabilization vibration effectively would reduce. The stabilization works not only in the 4k mode.

Both models are equipped with a ultragroothoeklens with an angle of view of 170°. The Loop Recording function captures continuous images in the memory buffer, even before the start of a recording. There is a stereo microphone with wind noise canceler. Finally, you can via wi-fi and UStrean live stream and post the route and speed thanks to the integrated gps.

The FDR-X1000V and HDR-AS200V from march available for, respectively, 450 and 300 euro.
