Everything now is great, once started small. Now take the Tweakers Awards, which last week we have issued. Where the distribution in 2007, began as a digital announcement of two paragraphs on the frontpage, it is in the year 2016 an analog galashow in comedy club Boom Chicago, complete with live stream.
The red carpet was out at the Rozentheater, the home of the comedians of Boom Chicago in Amsterdam. It was not only the first time that we descended on that place, it was also the first time that we have each reader is invited to, in any case, digital in the ceremony, by means of a livestream.

Not only the stream was crowded, the Rozentheater itself was also packed. After the attendees and the tense of the nominees at the bar the courage ingedronken, walked everyone to the hall where every place up high in the back of the theater was occupied.
Our own editor Wout Funnekotter opened the evening with a brief welcome, but went then to the side of the hall, where he as a fashion model together with a lovely lady in the picture went with each winner of the stage. The presenter for the rest of the evening was a Pep Rosenfeld, co-founder of Boom Chicago. He seemed to especially have a preference for Linux distro Fedora (“as If they say: we are an operating system, but we are also a bit like Indiana Jones”) and had his own look at the nominees (“these Are the nominees? This is the set that now online gaming is”).
In the hall were about three hundred attendees, including many people from the nominated companies, userreviewers and crew of Tweakers. There were a total of 428 nominees of 201 different companies and people. We have reached 34 awards, but unfortunately not everyone was there for the award to pick up. The most unfortunate absentee was the winner of the Golden Henk for best userreviewer: Foritain sit at home with a broken leg. Strength man! His portrait was present: when all the nominated userreviewers after with each other, posed for a group photo, loved someone the picture of Foritain.
After the ceremony went to the bar to re-open. The music came from home-dj Lancelot, while also pinball machines in the pull proved of some of the guests. It was crowded in the box: in the few hours that it could, he is 97 times used. As usual in such boxes are such pictures not the most flattering pictures, so that we store with the label ‘top secret’ in a large digital safe, and we move the password to /dev/null ;).
It was a cozy quantity which lasted until the small hours. We look like Tweakers back on an immensely friendly, fun and successful evening – and we see with fear and trembling to the opening of the envelope with the invoice of the bar ;).
