Sony SRS-XV900: party speakers with LED lighting for 1,200 euros

With the SRS-XV900, Sony is introducing what it claims to be the loudest and most powerful wireless party speaker in its X series to date. Equipped with a battery, wheels and all-round LED lighting, the SRS-XV900 will go on sale in October for EUR 1,199.

The SRS-XV900 has two mid-range drivers with one 120 mm in diameter and has a total of six tweeters with a diameter of 50 (front) and 40 mm (side and rear) at the front, sides and rear. The square woofer measures 320 × 320 mm.

The loudspeaker weighs 26.6 kg at a size of 410 × 880 × 439 mm, which is why it is equipped with wheels and a carrying handle. Sony states that the battery life is up to 25 hours, whereby the consumption during playback is said to be 100 watts. With a quick charge function, the speaker can be charged in 10 minutes for 3 hours of music listening. A battery care function prevents overcharging to increase service life. For operation away from the smartphone, a touch panel is installed on the top, which can be used to set the functions, settings and speaker lighting.

Bluetooth 5.2, LDAC and USB

Bluetooth 5.2 with Google Fast Pair is used for communication with the smartphone. SBC, AAC and LDAC are supported as audio codecs. With Sony's Party Connect feature, up to 100 additional Sony speakers can be connected to the SRS-XV900 and music playback can be synchronized. Even without a smartphone, music can be played on the speaker via a USB stick, for which a USB-A port is available. Alternatively, the smartphone can be charged via it.

In addition to 360-degree LED lighting, it offers a TV sound booster and microphone and guitar input (each 6.3 mm ) such as for karaoke. The TV Sound Booster function, which can be selected on the speaker, offers the option to connect the speaker to the TV using an optical cable that is included in the package.
