Aqara Magic Switch S1E
The Aqara Magic Switch S1E is the first variant of this smart light switch, which brings some unique functions. It is one of the new products in the starting blocks at Aqara, including a smart door lock, a bathroom heater and a curtain motor. This light button is one of the most interesting: it is a panel with 3×3 blocks on which you can display information. You connect this to the neutral wire, next to your normal light switches. You can then control three different groups of lamps, with a total of 2200 Watts. You operate the switches via a touch-sensitive touchscreen.
The SE1 has the same size as the existing Aqara light buttons H1, H1M, E1, T1 and the like. Aqara previously released the Scene Panel S1 and the MagicPad S1, which are also equipped with an LED panel. The difference, however, is that this new model is customizable. You can choose from five different styles, but you can also come up with something yourself. There are eleven different layouts, which can be used in multiple colors to match the interior of your room.
In HomeKit, the Aqara Magic Switch S1E appears as three light switches, which you can operate independently of each other. In addition, Aqara has added a wireless switch with six buttons, which you can use to control other HomeKit devices or activate scenes. What is special is that this switch panel does not work with Zigbee, but only connects via 2.4GHz WiFi.
The variant you see here is intended for China and it is hoped that Aqara will also release an international version soon. If you're already using Aqara's Chinese servers and don't worry about that, you could get it anyway – provided your electrical system is suitable for it.
