Intel launched its fifth-generation Core processors for laptops announced. The first batch of the on 14nm produced Core processors have better performance and longer battery life to laptops. It comes to fourteen processors.
Broadwell is the fifth generation of Core processors from Intel and unlike Haswell, the chips are not at 22nm, but 14nm is produced. That production is on schedule, claims Intel, and would even go to the fastest transition to a new manufacturing process in the history of the company. This try Intel to ensure that the production is disappointing. Intel had to Broadwell in the past to postpone due to issues with the 14nm production. The first Broadwell chips were the Core m chips for tablets and thin and light laptops, which by the end of 2014 appeared.
Intel claims that Broadwell a longer battery life, better suited to laptops. In combination with Windows 8.1 is the battery life in the idle mode and when the video playback has improved, claims the manufacturer. Intelligent Throttling for the i/o, and other adjustments in the area of energy management have to do this, in addition to the smaller manufacturing process of the chips. In addition, an improved dsp on the pch to more efficient audio decoding.
The new chipgeneratie must have several other Intel-techniques a push in the back, such as Intel RealSense, a camera system that, among other things to control with gestures and 3d scanning. Also would Broadwell better equipped to handle the algorithms for voice recognition and the introduction of the chipgeneratie together with the release of Wireless Display v5.1, that improvements in the area of management and security, and fullscreenweergave of games offers.
The main performance improvements are on the graphical plane. Broadwell marks the advent of the integrated HD Graphics 5500-video chip and the more powerful Iris Graphics 6100-variant. The gpus support display of 4k material, provide more efficient decoding of vp8, vp9 and hevc videos, and can more quickly images convert via Intel Quick Sync. The gpu’s are according to Intel DirectX 12-ready.”
In January come from all the major manufacturers laptops with the Broadwell chips available. In the first half of 2015 are also the more powerful Broadwell chips for laptops with a tdp of 45W and the desktopvarianten, while this year also the first processors on the basis of successor Skylake should appear.
