To mark the 20th anniversary of the O2 brand, Telefónica Deutschland is launching a new mobile phone tariff whose data volume is expected to grow over the coming years with increasing data usage. At the start of the tariff, it will be offered with 40 GB and is expected to increase to up to 240 GB over the next 20 years.

O2 Grow is to be offered as a promotional tariff from May 3rd to September 5th, 2022 via all sales channels of the mobile phone provider at a price of EUR 29.99 per month. As the company explains, in addition to new customers, existing customers can also switch to the tariff and receive a discount of 10 euros on the basic fee and pay as well as “young people”, i.e. people under the age of 29 according to the terms and conditions, and the “60+ generation”. thus 19.99 euros per month. The tariff is also offered to the self-employed and small businesses, who should also receive exclusive customer service with their own hotline and free device replacement. In addition to the contract with the usual two-year term, the company offers a Flex variant that can be canceled monthly and costs EUR 39.99 per month.
Tarif starts with 40GB and grows up to 240GB
A special feature of the O2 Grow is the growing data volume in the LTE and 5G network of Telefónica Deutschland, which starts with 40 GB and is increased by 10 gigabytes every year, so that more data volume is available per month with each new year. According to the provider, the O2 Grow is designed for the next 20 years, so that 240 GB of data volume per month would be available in the last year of use, provided the contract has been in place until then.
As part of the Connect option, the new tariff can be used for up to ten mobile devices, which then share the included data volume. Devices such as smartphones, tablets, smartwatches or mobile routers can be used with the same tariffs. If desired, the tariff can be combined with the corresponding end devices from O2.
32 Kbit/s after consumption of the data volume
In addition to the growing data volume, the O2 Grow consists of unlimited national calls to all networks and unlimited SMS to all German networks. The footnotes of the tariff also state that after the data volume has been used up, the speed is limited to 32 Kbit/s for the remainder of the billing month.
