Philips Hue has a blinking relationship with the Apple Watch

Philips Hue Apple Watch app

There were previously Apple Watch apps from Philips Hue, but they were removed again in 2016 and in June 2021 respectively due to a major reorganization of the app. Several new features were added in version 4.0, but the widgets and the Apple Watch app also disappeared. Since then, you could still use automations through the Shortcuts app and run them through Siri with a voice command on your Apple Watch. Now it appears that the maker is working on an Apple Watch app again: the company is looking for an intern to work on an Apple Watch app.

This is not just an internship for mediocre people. Signify is looking for “forward-thinking innovators” who have a passion for sustainability. You can also expect this:

As an iOS developer for the Hue Light Control team, you will explore new ways to control our lighting system with the Apple Watch. You get the chance to develop a Watch app from scratch. We are looking for a creative iOS developer with technical knowledge and a drive for User Experience.

Here's what Signify currently recommends:

If you are still looking for an internship and have not yet set up your own successful start-up, you can also contact the Philips Hue makers:

You will research and develop a prototype that will form the basis for the Philips Hue Apple Watch app and the best way to interact with the Hue system from an Apple Watch.

It promises a special and innovative Apple Watch app, but then developed by an intern. The internship will last three to six months, so we shouldn't expect a first version this year. Let's just hope that the app stays in the air a little longer after the intern's departure than before.
