Hasbro’s rights for D&D games from Atari

The lawsuit between Hasbro and Atari over the rights to the development of digital Dungeons & Dragons games is suitable. Atari may digital D&D games. The new Neverwinter game from the stable of Cryptic has been delayed to 2012.

Details of the settlement were not disclosed, however, the American toy manufacturer Hasbro announced that Atari, Dungeons & Dragons games should continue to develop, under license from Hasbro and its subsidiary Wizards of the Coast, writes Gamasutra.

In 2007, locks both parties in a deal that Atari the exclusive right to ten years, digital games based on Dungeons & Dragons. At the end of 2009 drew Hasbro filed a lawsuit to get the rights to get back, because Atari for breach of contract and fraud would have been committed. The chief complaint was that Atari’s parent company Infogrames games by Namco Bandai did distribute. Hasbro was of the opinion that Atari’s D&D rights, therefore, improper were doorgelicenseerd to the Japanese publisher.

Also announced Hasbro that the Neverwinter-game that Atari had to develop a year is postponed to the end of 2012. Responsible for the development of the game is Cryptic Studios by Atari in may to purchase. The Chinese publisher Perfect World bought the studio for 35 million euros. The takeover is a week ago completed.
