Samsung calls smartphones from now on: ‘magical’ and ‘miracle’

Samsung has, according to an Italian blog quietly a new naming scheme introduced for its smartphones. Now get the smartphones the designation R for royal, W for wonder, Y for young-minded and M for magical.

The new naming convention will be applied to the Galaxy Android smartphones, Wave Bada devices and Samsung Windows Phones, claims the Italian blog Mobility. The top class will get the addition’s, such as the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II. Underneath are smartphones with the addition R of royal or refined; these have slightly lower specs and a slightly softer price tag.

Midrange-smartphones get the addition W of wonder, while the M magical is reserved for the cheapest devices with a subscription and most expensive prepaid phones. Y for Young-Minded is intended for the prepaidsmartphones of Samsung.

In addition, there will still be names for specific devices, such as Plus for a device that is the same as a previous device, but slightly better specs. Pro is intended for devices with a qwerty keyboard, while lte smartphones is the addition of LTE should get it.

It is unclear where Mobility information from it, but the new naming convention is supported by the recent announcements. Samsung announced some time ago the Galaxy S Plus, while the Galaxy R was recently proposed.

Samsung, after Nokia the second manufacturer in a short time that his naming changes. Nokia stepped right off of letteraanduidingen as the N8 and E7, and gives devices three-digit numbers.
