In December 2019 the first season of Netflix ‘Witcher series started. The audience received the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's books well, so it is not surprising that production of the second season is now starting. Now Netflix is even announcing a second live-action series in the Hexer universe.
Series deals with the origins of the first Witcher
This is called The Witcher: Blood Origin and was launched today as a & quot; spin-off & quot; series from Netflix & apos; official Witcher account announced on Twitter. The story will not revolve around the adventures of the witcher Geralt von Rivia again, but will take place around 1,200 years before his birth – a time that is rarely discussed in detail in the eight books. Meanwhile, Netflix reveals that the focus is on the merging of the worlds of elves, humans and monsters. The event, known in the Witcher universe as the conjunction of spheres, laid the foundation for the profession of witcher, the history of which is to be examined.
Ever wondered how the first Witcher came to be?

In order to still be able to remain authentic on foreign terrain, Sapkowski is once again involved in the creation process of the series – but to what extent is still unknown. What is certain, however, is that the new series will be produced again by Lauren S. Hissrich; but she is now at the side of Declan de Barra. De Barra was also involved in the existing series and wrote the fourth episode of the first season.
Netflix is working on a total of three Witcher productions
The Witcher: Blood Origin, meanwhile, is not the second Netflix project placed in the Witcher universe, but only the second live-action series. At the beginning of the year, Netflix announced an anime film called Nightmare of the Wolf, which will focus on Geralt's foster father and sorcerer teacher Vesemir. The film is being developed by the South Korean studio Mir and also produced by Lauren S. Hissrich. The script for the film is written by Beau DeMayo, who already worked on the first season of the Geralt series.
All three productions also have one thing in common: There are no release dates yet. The production of the Geralt series stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but is now to be resumed.

In the meantime, at least two of the three productions have a release date. While the second season of the Witcher series will start on December 17, 2021, the anime short film Nightmare of the Wolf will premiere on August 23. Now Netflix is in the mood for the story of Vesemir with a trailer. The film deals with his career as a witcher:
Escaping from poverty to become a witcher, Vesemir slays monsters for coin and glory, but when a new menace rises, he must face the demons of his past.
