Abroad. Computer security expert John McAfee is said to have left behind a suicide note when he – according to the official statement – committed suicide in his cell. But his widow now expresses doubts that it is really a suicide note, reports RT.

In a post on Twitter in October 2020, John McAfee wrote that if he were to be found dead in his cell, he would then have been subjected to assassination.
For some weeks ago, McAfee was indeed found dead in his cell in Spain, where he was waiting to be extradited to the United States on suspicion of tax crimes.
His widow, Janice McAfee, has now published a picture of the deceased husband's alleged suicide note. She believes the letter appears more like a draft of a Twitter post – and continues to question the Spanish authorities' official statement that McAfee was hanged in prison.
“This note does not appear to come from someone who has lost all hope and is considering ending his life. This note sounds like one of John's tweets “, she writes on Twitter.
Much of the text on the handwritten paper is crossed out but it contains words and phrases like “phantom parasite” and “control my own future, which does not exist”.
Most people who have responded to Janice McAfee on Twitter seem to agree with her interpretation.
“If it were a suicide note, I'm sure he would have mentioned you – written that he loves you and his family” , writes one person.
“If I had committed suicide, I would at least have decided * why * I did it. I would not still be working on the first draft,” comments another user.
John McAfee, 75, was found dead in his prison cell in Barcelona on June 23. The eccentric ex-millionaire had repeatedly said he would never commit suicide.
Janice, who married McAfee in 2013, has refused to accept the official version of how her husband died. Last week, she stated that “there is obviously a blackout”.
“We have not received the death certificate, the official autopsy report or the official report from the prison. I understand that things take time, but the lack of cooperation from the Spanish authorities only confirms our suspicions that they have something to hide “, she said in a statement according to RT.
