The WWDC is a software party par excellence. Developers come together (virtually), while Apple makes the latest announcements for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS. The WWDC of 2021 will again be largely devoted to software, with upcoming announcements for iOS 15, watchOS 8 and more. But this year Apple would also just announce new hardware at WWDC.
& lsquo; Hardware at WWDC & rsquo ;: what's to come?
Although Apple has already announced the necessary new products during the April 2021 event (such as the new Apple TV, iMac and iPad Pro), there is still plenty on the schedule for the rest of the year. Several sources speculate that Apple will announce new hardware during this year's WWDC. For example, in a not-so-cryptic tweet, rumor-fan Jon Prosser says that “normally no hardware is announced at WWDC”.
Several hardware announcements are still in the pipeline. What you should not expect are the iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7 and iPad 2021. These announcements always follow in September. The products you can expect are probably the new MacBooks.
New MacBook Pro big chance
This week a reliable source reported that the release of the high-end MacBook Pro 2021 is planned for this summer. An announcement in June during WWDC therefore makes a lot of sense. Moreover, these are high-end models, intended for professionals and developers: exactly the target group of the WWDC.
There are a number of other products that Apple is planning , like the new AirPods. To be honest, we do not expect that during WWDC, because previous reliable sources claimed that the AirPods 3 will only be next in the third quarter. Hardware at WWDC in recent years
The last time Apple announced hardware at WWDC was in 2019 at the announcement of the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR. There was no product disclosure in 2018, but in 2017 Apple presented the iPad Pro 2017, new iMacs & eacute; n the HomePod.
