With the Omen 25i, HP is expanding its range of gaming monitors to include a full HD model with 165 Hz and a 24.5-inch screen diagonal. The IPS display works with 8 bit color depth and is certified according to DisplayHDR 400. AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync are supported. The Crosshair mode dynamically adjusts the color of the crosshairs.
Omen 25i with FHD and 165 Hz on 24.5 inches
The Omen 25i is the smaller counterpart to the Omen 27i, but with the WQHD resolution it accommodates more pixels on 27 inches. Both have in common the viewing angle stable IPS technology, which is combined here with a nominal response time of 1 ms (GtG) and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. HP supplies up to 240 Hz with a TN panel with the Omen X 25 and the Omen X 25f. Other manufacturers already offer IPS monitors with 240 Hz.
The Omen 25i is specified with 8 bit color depth and is said to be 99 percent of sRGB and 90 percent of DCI-P3 can represent. The brightness is given as 400 cd/m² (typical), at the top the display should reach 450 cd/m² in HDR mode. As is almost always the case with IPS panels, the contrast ratio is specified as 1,000: 1.

The typical Omen design includes the narrow display bezel at the top and on the sides, while the lower edge with the Omen logo is significantly wider. Like the connection box on the back, the stand is diamond-shaped. DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 as well as two USB-A sockets according to USB 3.2 Gen 1 alias USB 3.0 with 5 Gbit/s serve as connections. A headphone output is also available. The OSD is operated via a joystick on the back, next to which the power button is located.
Dynamic crosshair instead of height adjustment
While the stand does not have a height adjustment or pivot mode, HP advertises the blue light filter certified according to Eyesafe standards and the guidelines of TÜV Rheinland, which is supposed to be easy on the eyes. The focus is clearly on the gaming features, which include, for example, a dynamic crosshair that automatically adapts the color to the game environment so that it does not disappear in the background. There is also the “Game Remaster Mode”, which is supposed to spruce up older games with a low resolution, as well as “Shadow Vision”, a function for brightening up dark game scenes.
