In the course of today's announcement of Tiger Lake-H45, Dell is renewing the notebooks XPS 15 (9510) and XPS 17 (9710) with the corresponding Intel processors. Nvidia's ampere graphics cards GeForce RTX 3050 (Ti) and 3060 as well as an OLED display with 3.5K resolution, which is offered in addition to Full HD and 4K, are also being introduced.
Almost exactly a year ago, Dell switched the XPS 15 and XPS 17 to the 16:10 format and given the notebooks a new case with narrow display bezels. Dell remains true to this structure with the new XPS 15 (9510) and XPS 17 (9710), but offers a new screen option for the 15.6 inch notebook.
OLED panel with 3.5K resolution
Buyers of an XPS 15 (9510) can now choose between an IPS panel with 1,920 × 1,200 pixels, 500 cd/m², 1,650: 1 contrast and 100 percent sRGB; a new OLED display with 3,456 × 2,160 pixels (“3.5K”), DisplayHDR 500 True Black, 400 cd/m², 100,000: 1 contrast and 100 percent DCI-P3; as well as an IPS touch display with 3,840 × 2,400 pixels, DisplayHDR 400, 500 cd/m², 1,600: 1 contrast, 100 percent Adobe RGB and 99 percent DCI-P3. All three screens come with a certification for the playback of Dolby Vision.
For the XPS 17 (9710), Dell only offers the two IPS displays with Full HD or 4K resolution in 16:10 format, the new OLED option is not available here.

Tiger Lake-H45 in four variants
Apart from the screens, new processors are moving into notebooks. Dell uses the new Tiger Lake H45 family from Intel and offers the Core i5-11400H, Core i7-11800H and the Core i9-11900H in the XPS 15. The fourth option for the XPS 17 is the even more powerful Core i9-11980HK model, which reaches up to 5.0 GHz.
In both versions of the notebook, the processor can be supported by 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB DDR4-3200, which are connected via two SO-DIMMs and are therefore not soldered to the mainboard. The editorial team is not yet aware of whether the SSD can also be replaced. You can choose from PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD with capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB.
GeForce RTX 3050 (Ti) or 3060
In the field of graphics cards, Turing is being replaced by amps. Both models are based on the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 with 4 GB GDDR6, the TGP in the XPS 15 being 45 watts and the XPS 17 being 60 watts. A GeForce 3050 Ti with 4 GB GDDR6 and 45 watts is available as an option for the XPS 15, while a GeForce 3060 with 4 GB GDDR6 at 70 watts TGP is provided for the XPS 17 as a more powerful option.
