In the Israeli city of Lod, which has a mixed population of Arabs and Jews, violent and extensive Arab riots began as early as Tuesday evening.
On Wednesday, the violence spread to several cities in the country, reports the Times of Israel.
Brutal scenes take place in the streets, with extensive vandalism, arson and lynching.

In Bat Yam, groups of Jews have also smashed Arab-owned shops, Haaretz reports.
In Acre, a Jewish man in his 30s is reported to have been seriously injured after an Arab lynch mob attacked him with stones.
At the same time, Jews marched in another part of the city and chanted “Death to the Arabs”:

Arab Knesset member Issawi Frej tells the Times of Israel that the riots in Israel right now are “much worse” than the riots that hit the country in October 2000. At that time there were street fights between Arabs and police, while this time it was Arab and Jewish citizens who attacked each other.
– It is like a civil war, without weapons, says Frej.
< President Reuven Rivlin also uses the word.
– We are dealing with a civil war between each other for no reason. Please stop this folly, he says.
