Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 update

Red Hat has a new version of the Linux distro Enterprise Linux 5 issued. RHEL 5.7 provides, in addition to the necessary security patches, including support for new hardware and improvements to the Xen hypervisor.

Although Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 in november came out last year, continues to Red Hat until 2017 updates for RHEL 5 release. Thursday presented the software company, RHEL 5.7, that few of the new features. New support for OpenSCAP-security framework, and software that enables customers to use their software licenses to manage.

Other improvements include new drivers for new hardware to support the new ldap, and network bridge features and improvements for the Xen hypervisor. Also, there are vulnerabilities poem, among others in the Xen-implementation. A vulnerability could result in a process in the virtual machine, the entire host had a crash. Also a dos vulnerability in the gfs2 file system is fixed.

RHEL 5 came out in march 2007 from slightly more than two years to version 4 of Red Hats enterprise Linux distribution. Both distributions are still supported; in February came a new version of RHEL 4.
