‘Hadoop is easier to use’

The Apache Hadoop project is easier to use, says the ceo of HortonWorks. The new version will come out probably in the second quarter of next year and also offers better scalability and performance, the ceo.

According to HortonWorks ceo Eric Baldeschwieler must use the new Hadoop version, the threshold is lower to use the software, reports InfoWorld.

That should be achieved through tools to add that the software can be deployed, managed and monitored, sets Baldeschwieler, without too detailed to elaborate on the plans. HortonWorks is the company that by, among others, Yahoo is established to the Apache project Hadoop to develop further and provide support to businesses.

The new Hadoop version appears, probably in the second quarter of next year, but this year already as a beta appear. In addition to more ease-of-use the new version better scalability offer and its performance can be improved. There will also be a new low for data management, HCatalog, which is to ensure better compatibility with other tools.

Hadoop is an open-source software project of the Apache Foundation for distributed computing and offers a private file system that makes it possible to have data distributed over a network to store. Also, there are sub-projects for the processing of data, such as Hive and MapReduce, and a tool for performing parallel operations, called Pig. Hadoop uses Java and is developed by employees of Facebook, Yahoo, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
