Apple has released a software update for its iOS devices. The update close a pdf leak, which the jailbreakmethode of JailbreakMe made it possible. The update is available for the iPhone 3GS and 4, iPod touch, and iPad.
The update, iOS 4.3.4, seems only intended to the pdf-leaks: there is no mention of new features or performance improvements. The pdf vulnerability was used for JailbreakMe.com but can also be abused by attackers to via the browser on the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad to take over. Devices with iOS 4.3.3 or older are still vulnerable to the leak. After a jailbreak may, however, from the alternative downloadwinkel Cydia PDF Patcher downloaded, the leak also closed.
JailbreakMe came almost two weeks ago and makes use of pre-prepared pdfs, via a vulnerability in the pdf reader to access iOS. A similar leak was already poem in iOS with iOS 4.0.1. Also when were prepared pdfs enough to have an iOS device to be jailbroken. There is already a new jailbreak for iOS 4.3.4, but that no longer works if the device is restarted.
Version 4.3.4 is likely to be the last iOS 4 release. Now iOS 5 has already arrived at the third beta-version. The final release of the new version of iOS, including a improved notification system and Twitter integration, this fall is expected.
