Gmail and Google Docs get support for zip and rar

Google has its Gmail and Docs service includes support for the file formats zip and rar. Because of this, it is possible to within the e-mail client or the officedienst the contents of these files to show and open directly.

When in Gmail on the ‘view’ is pressed, user will see a list of the files contained in the zip – or rar-file. This can then also directly be opened in Docs, where the files to be downloaded or can be printed out. By the support for zip and rar is the total number of supported file formats on nineteen. Earlier this year, Google the functionality of Docs out of the twelve file formats.

Also for cellphones, the new functionality is rolled out. The mobile page of Docs allows smartphone users to directly display the content of zip or rar files to view it. About the Gmail application, which are on almost all Android phones is to be found, nothing was said.
