AMD introduces new generation desktopprocessors

AMD has with the introduction of its desktop apu’s for the Fusion platform, a new generation of desktopprocessors on the market. The, formerly known as Llano-apus known accellerated processing units to integrate cpu and gpu.

The Llano-apu’s are the mainstream desktopvarianten of the Fusion platform. Previously, AMD for laptops Llano-apus, and the company introduced the energy-saving Atom-competitors Ontario and Zacate for netbooks and nettops. With Llano for the desktop, a platform that AMD Lynx mentions, the accellerated processing unit, or a loose video card in a system redundant. The gpu in the Lynx’s processors have performance comparable with that of entry – level to mainstream graphics cards.

Two apu’s are from the introduction immediately available: the AMD A8-3850 and AMD A6-3650. Also, be on the short term, the A8-3800 and A6-3600 are expected. The A8-3850 is the top model, and features four cpu cores on 2.9 GHz tap, and each of which has 1MB L2 cache. The gpu is equipped with 400 streamprocessors and has a clock speed of 600MHz. This is the on the who integrated HD 6550D gpu is comparable to a low – to-midrange video card.

The A8-3850-apu got a tdp of 100W, and has a chipoppervlak of 228 square millimeters. The introductory price is 129 euro. The simpler A6-3650 also has four cpu cores, but with 2.6 GHz is slower clocked. Also the gpu with 320 streamprocessors, runs with 443MHz a bit slower. The A6 apu has a tdp of 100W and an introductory price of about 109 euros.

The Llano-apus are in a new series of motherboards with the Hudson chipset inserted. The D3 variant of this chipset, on motherboards to recognize the A75-designation in the name, is equipped with sata-600 and usb 3.0 interfaces. The chipset also features an FM1 socket for apu’s, dual-channel ddr3-slots and the necessary pci-express and pci slots. The simpler A55 chipset only has sata-300 and usb 2.0 ports.
