Intel’s newest series of solid state drives, which the company in early February it introduced, a strong decrease in prices subject. The 520 series from Intel is, in some cases, with more than thirty percent dropped in price.
Intel’s 520-series was at launch much higher priced than competing drives with the same hardware on board. The Intel ssd’s have a SandForce SF2281 controller with 25nm-mlc-memory. At the time of introduction, prices of the 240GB version of the 520 series of solid state drives are about one hundred euros higher than the price of competing drives.
With a rapid decline in prices seems now to be changing come. The 240GB version of Intel’s 520 series ssds the last couple of days dropped to about three hundred euros. Also the prices of the other drive capacities from the series are sharply, but not as strong as the 240GB edition. With a minimum decrease of 20 per cent, for the 120GB and 480GB drives, up to 30 percent and more for the 60GB and 240GB drives, the prices of the Intel drives are better in line with the competition.
