Hands-on: Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD with quadcorechip

Little Dutch will the manufacturer Huawei, but at MWC it is clear that the company is a serious attempt to break through outside of Asia lwa . One of the devices to which it wants to do is the MediaPad 10 FHD tablet.

The Chinese Huawei is going all-in with its first MediaPad 10 FHD and has his sights focused on the leaders in the market such as, for example, the Asus Transformer Prime. The manufacturer has therefore developed in its soc for the tablet, something for the rest only Samsung and Apple do. Much is still not known about the Huawei K3V2-soc, but we do know that he has four 1.5 GHz geklokte Cortex A9 cores, and a gpu that, according to the company, on sixteen cores.

Besides the processor also the screen of the MediaPaf 10 FHD impressive; the fhd in the name stands for ‘full hd’ and the resolution is 1920 by 1200 pixels. Only Asus and Acer have a tablet in the pipeline with such a high resolution; the tablets that are now on the market are often have the resolution 1280×800 pixels. Also, the casing felt, despite that it is clearly an early engineering sample, very solid. The tablet is made of a sturdy plastic and is only 8.8 mm thin, as thin as an iPad 2.

There was no wi-fi access point in the vicinity which we have not been able to see how quickly the MediaPad is in the display of web pages. Also, we could not benchmark the Market picking the quadcore-soc had the fire to the shins. The existing apps were in any case without any hort or punch shown. The gallery whizzed quickly through the photos and the frame rate of the game that we could run – Riptide GP – was also fine. The screen seems to be a ips panel, or at least a similar technology because viewing angles looked great.

The tablet did us in many ways reminiscent of the Transformer Prime 700 – or Unity – that Asus at CES, and here at MWC showed. And that is for a company that is relatively new on the market for high-end products quite a compliment.

There is still a lot of confusion around the MediaPad 10. So we would have more technical info about the soc want to, we don’t know what he will cost and we don’t know whether the tablet ever to the Netherlands. What we do know is that the top manufacturers such as Samsung and Asus, there may be a formidable competitor, that might not be very known, but for the time being, however, show a high-end tablet to be able to build.
