Scientists have succeeded in developing a biological ‘computer’ to build on the basis of dna-molecules. They showed that the system for encryption and decryption may be used, and a lot of calculations in parallel.
All calculations take place in a test tube with only organic molecules, but the result can be read out because of the fluorescent particles linked to the dna on a chip is inserted. The scientists, who are working at research institutes in California and Israel, showed that with their method of luminous images to be able to decipher that encrypted on the chip were placed.
The encryption and decryptieproces works with many enzymes that the dna modification. Because each enzyme has a specific function, the final effect on the dna structure is known, and the scientists with their ‘input’ to determine for itself what the outcome of the bio-computer must generate. By fluorescent labels to use the result, however, not long shelf life: such labels turns off the signal after a period of time.
According to scientists, is the execution of a computation with dna molecules and enzymes slower than via a conventional computer. Because, however, biljarden of this type of biological calculations in parallel can take place, the bio-computer to work, and for certain tasks a competitor for conventional calculation systems.
