OpenStack is considering support for Hyper-V to delete

The developers of OpenStack, the deletion may be the support for Microsoft’s Hyper-V in future versions of the cloud platform. Poorly maintained and buggy source code for Hyper-V is suggested as a reason.

On a mailing list for the OpenStack developers in the run-up to the development of a new release, Essex called, proposed to Hyper-V support out of the code to delete. If reason calls developer Thierry Carrez buggy code, which, moreover, would not be maintained. Readwriteweb gets a OpenStack developer says that the code for Microsoft’s hypervisor, available in some versions of Windows Server, since april 2011, more is touched.

Another reason that is called to the Hyper-V driver to drop in the upcoming Essex release is the support for Hyper-V from OpenStack, only limited possibilities. Or the support for Microsoft’s hypervisor permanently OpenStack is deleted, will soon be decided.

Microsoft announced in October 2010 that the Hyper-V hypervisor Windows Server 2008 R2 compatible wanted to do with OpenStack. Now has the open-source cloud platform, a large number of participating companies, including Citrix, Cisco, Dell, AMD, Intel, Canonical, SUSE Linux, and HP.
