‘AMD processed new architecture first in apus’

AMD would be a tick-tock-model handle for the release of its micro-architecture. According to roadmaps, incorporated the company, first a simple version of its architecture in apu’s and then the cpu’s turn.

From the upcoming Piledriver-micro-architecture would be AMD are ‘tick-tock’ go implement. The tick-tock of AMD would be, somewhat analogous to Intel’s strategy, a leaner architecture relate to that in the apu’s or accellerated processing units is processed, after which a full version of the new micro-architecture in the cpu line would be used. This would mean that apu’s as the first to take advantage of new features and smaller production process’, then cpu’s about the full features of the architecture.

According to a roadmap that carries the AMD strategy from his Piledriver-micro-architecture, the Trinity apu’s this improved Bulldozer architecture first, followed by the desktopprocessors with codename Vishera. The apus get up to four cores and two memory channels, while the desktop – and serverchips four memory channels and eight to ten cores would get. Also, the instruction set for the desktop – and server-cpus are extended with more instructions per klokcyclus and new instructions are supported.

AMD would be with the policy, the introduction of new techniques to give a boost to its largest market, mainstream systems with apu’s with the x86 cores and a gpu on board, the first of new process and smaller chips benefit from it. The cpu’s without the gpu, would then of the full functionality of the architecture can use, with performance becoming slightly better.
