Apple sells record number of iPhones

Apple has in the last quarter of 2011 thanks to the release of the iPhone 4S, a record number of smartphones sold. Apple sold in three months 37 million iPhones. Also the number of sold iPads is greatly increased.

Apple earned last few years sales records in the quarter that the new iPhones came out. In the past quarter, which began on October 1 – two weeks before the release of the iPhone 4S – sold Apple 37,02 million iPhones. This is evident from the quarterly figures, which Apple has published. In the same quarter last year were still 16 million devices, an increase of 133 percent. The record in a quarter stood at 20 million iPhones. That got Apple last spring, after the iPhone was set for sale at the major U.s. carrier Verizon Wireless.

Also the number of sold iPads was last quarter, in the elevator. That came through the holidays: under the expensive gifts were iPads is a sought after item, so it seems. Where last year, in the quarter of the holidays, 7.33 million iPads were sold in that there are now 15.3 million. The sales of iPods fell by about a quarter to 15.4 million.

Apple seems with iOS the gap with the market leader Android is largely a poem. It is estimated that last quarter, around 60-65 million Android devices activated. Apple sold 52 million iPhones and iPads. If more than half of the sold iPods copies of the iPod touch is Apple to say that out of around 62 million sold iOS devices. In the coming weeks will be to figures from analysts probably tell whether or not Android still is the market leader in the field of mobile operating systems.

The sales of Mac laptops also increased with 26 percent to 3.7 million. The desktops did it with an increase of 1.2 to 1.5 million copies, is also reasonable. Apple earned in the quarter a turnover of 46 billion dollars and posted a profit of 13 billion dollars.
