Sony shows blu-ray player with Google TV

Sony has at CES a blu-ray player is shown which includes Google TV. Who a blu-ray movie wants to look can do this by creating an app within the Google TV interface to boot. Also comes Sony with a media player on Google TV.

The player, typename NSZ-GP9, works on the basis of the most recent version of Google TV to Android Honeycomb based. Users can use Google TV not only viewing media that is locally stored, such as on a usb drive or nas, but also media from external content providers. It should also be possible to provide the device with an existing set-top-box to link and then using the supplied remote control can be used to both control devices.

Remote control features in addition to the usual buttons on a touch pad that allows the Google TV interface can be controlled. To the rear is a qwerty keyboard. A sensor keeps track of which orientation the remote control is located, so that only the buttons that are currently at the top are usable. Through a microphone in the remote control the device with voice commands can be operated.

For those who do not need blu-ray functionality, there is the NSZ-GS7. This small media player has the same Google Tv features as the blu-ray player and comes with the same remote but without support for voice commands. These two devices have this summer in the United States come out for a yet unknown price. If and when the players come to the Netherlands could Sony not yet say.
