Dutch gamestudio Whitebear is bankrupt

The Dutch Whitebear Studios is bankrupt. The demise of the company, that games are made for Nintendo platforms and the pc, was for quite some time, so that all the staff already somewhere else, a shelter has found.

Director Micah van der meer, has filed for insolvency of Whitebear Studios, a Dutch gameontwikkelaar with offices in Amersfoort and Germany. The studio had existed since 2007 and was familiar with games like Sudoku Ball Detective, Bee Smart and The Secret of Rotterdam (made for the Rotterdam municipal Archives). The studio worked together with the Dutch publishers Playlogic and Iceberg Interactive.

It’s already not good with Whitebear. Thus, Van der meer that there is ‘a salarisachterstand of 28 months and a conflict with the management. The former director has been a long time for the bankruptcy of the studio to prepare for. Therefore, all the staff now found another job. Problems with investors and publishers are the reason for the bankruptcy. So was Whitebear affected by the bankruptcy of Playlogic. That led, according to Van der meer to ‘a considerable financial blow’, which resulted in the development team to six men had to be reduced. Also the unfair competition with subsidized developers’ was to blame for the demise, thinks the former ceo.
