“Microsoft, Nokia, and Amazon considered acquisition RIM

According to rumors had Amazon interest in BlackBerry-maker RIM. In addition, Microsoft and Nokia jointly a takeover of the Canadian company have considered. To concrete plans, however, are probably not led.

That reports The Wall Street Journal. It is noted that it is not clear how concrete the plans were and whether there are also serious discussions with RIM. The overnamegeluiden are not fall from the sky; RIM has a number of bad quarters in the back and has the introduction of smartphones with the new QNX-based operating system, have to postpone. Also, the sales of the PlayBook tablet and ran the value of the company in the recent time significantly back.

RIM would, therefore, many different options to consider the future of the company, including a possible acquisition. Ceo Jim Balsillie would, however, want to wait until the release of new BlackBerry next year before that option was seriously considered. That would also be the reason that RIM to interested parties has currently not yet open to a takeover bid. According to Reuters, had Amazon an investment bank in the arm taken to assess the feasibility of a takeover. However, there would have been conversations going on between RIM and Amazon have a partnership. It is unclear what those conversations exactly.

According to the WSJ examines RIM also other ways to turn the tide. The company could, among other Samsung and HTC approached in the hope of its coming BlackBerry 10 operating system license. How the two smartphonefabrikanten responded, is not clear.
