Microsoft: Windows Phone supports nfc

Windows Phone supports the functionality nfc since version 7.5, says Microsoft. Nevertheless, none of the manufacturers that make Windows Phones makes the feature added to his phones. The reason for this is unclear.

Microsoft has never commented on the support for nfc in Windows Phone, but a spokesperson told telecomsite TechRadar that nfc is already supported in the OS. “Manufacturers just need to activate and that’s not happened.”

Earlier this year, rumors that a new Windows Phone smartphone from Samsung nfc support, but that seems not the case. Nokia supported nfc in its MeeGo device N9, however, when the N9 was transformed to Lumia 800 with Windows Phone is the feature void. Incidentally, there is a chance that the nfc antenna is present and is: Nokia stopped last year, also a nfc antenna in its Symbian-device C7, but said that was only a few months later. Nokia says that the nfc support has been omitted to the device previously.

Nfc has for many years been seen as a great promise, but never really big breakthrough. Various parties have come up with payment systems based on nfc. Moreover, it supports Android 4.0 with Beam exchanging links and videos via nfc. When the first Windows Phones devices with nfc on the market is not known.
