Fujifilm X-S1-advanced bridge camera with manual zoom official

Fujifilm has officially launched the X-S1-advanced bridge camera announced. The camera, already seen in an earlier presentation in Japan, features a 26x-zoom lens with manual zoom and a 2/3″-EXR-cmos image sensor with 12 megapixels.

The new advanced bridge camera, a hybrid between a dslr and compact camera with a smaller sensor and a fixed zoom lens, is part of the high-end X-camera series from Fujifilm. To emphasize is the X-S1 is lined with a non-slip rubberised and feature metal knobs. The camera is built in Japan.

The X-S1 is equipped with the 2/3″-EXR-cmos image sensor, which is also in the Fujifilm X10 compact camera. The EXR sensor has a special structure of the subpixels, so that the value of two adjacent sub-pixel can be used for a higher dynamic range or less noise. The normal iso range of the sensor is between iso 100 and iso 3200.

The Fujinon 26x-zoom lens has a ring around the lens to manually zoom and has a wide angle with a viewing angle equivalent to 24mm in film camera equivalents. The largest aperture is, in this mode, f/2.8, but drops to f/5.6 in telephoto. The lens is further stabilized and has nine aperture blades enables.

The X-S1 has a built-in electronic viewfinder with a resolution of 1.44 million subpixels, while the 3″lcd on the back has a resolution of 460,000 subpixels. The camera has a mode dial with pasm modes, and it is possible to take pictures as the raw file. The li-ion battery of unknown capacity would be good for about 500 pictures. Worth mentioning are further the 360 degree Panorama option and the ability to 1080/30p video.

The Fujifilm X-S1 is expected to be in February 2012 in the United States available. The company has not yet suggested retail price be announced. Nor is known whether or not the camera also in Europe, the fed is going to be.
