Hard numbers are not there yet, but publisher Electronic Arts estimates that Battlefield 3 in the first week, 5 million sold. It would be the fastest selling EA game ever. The publisher has 10 million games.
EA bases the 5 million copies sold on ‘internal estimates’, though not the publisher on which those are based. The shooter Battlefield 3, which, since 28 October sale, with that number of the fastest-selling game from Electronic Arts ever, reports the publisher. The high sales according to the publisher, thanks to the high scores the game got from reviewers. The consolegame got an average of 85 out of 100, while the pc version even more than 90 scored, sets EA. The publisher is therefore a considerable advantage on a competitor Activision, which is about a week, the comparable Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 brings to the market.
In addition, EA allow that, especially during the weekend, what the problems were with the servers that the multiplayergedeelte of the game host. The publisher estimates, however, that the uptime of the servers on 98,9 percent, so that the large majority of players has no problems encountered. The publisher does not go in on rumors that the pc version of the game via Steam will be offered. EA and Steam operator Valve would be negotiations on the offer of the pc version of the shooter, the popular downloadplatform of Valve. The pc version is now only to get through Origin, the Steam-competitor who earlier this year EA was introduced. The publisher is also not in on the controversy in Germany about the behaviour of the client of Origin. German gamers say that the client behaves as spyware and more in the watching than of a gameclient should be expected.
