LG Display has a new 55″panel for use in multi-display-setups has been developed. The distance between multiple displays then amounts to 5.3 mm. With the new lcd is a 3×3 video wall as possible, with a diagonal of 165″.

The bezels on the left and at the top are 3.4 mm in size, while those at the bottom and the right side 1,9 mm, so the spacing of arrays of multiple displays always 5,3 mm. LG Display is claiming that this is the thinnest bezels for this diagonal screen.

The panel has a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels and a brightness of 800cd/m2. This high brightness is of interest because such displays are often used with lots of ambient light. The new lcd is about forty percent more fuel efficient than the current 55″displays of the company by use of a form of local dimming.

LG Display is the new panel exhibit at the FPD International 2011 exhibition in Yokohama at the end of this month in an arrangement with a total of nine screens in a 3×3 configuration. In total, this provides a combined display of 165″.
