Experimental Chrome extension provides access to remote desktops

Internetgigant Google has for its Chrome browser, an extension released that allows the desktop of a pc or laptop can remotely be taken over via the browser. Chrome Remote Desktop Beta is built with open source software.

The extension shows a achtcijferigere code to the user that his computer with the other person wants to share. The recipient must enter, so as to gain full control over a pc or laptop. According to Google works Chrome Remote Desktop on all platforms, including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The extension can also be used for Chromebooks other operating systems remotely.

Google uses a number of opensourcebibliotheken for the experimental extension. So is libjingle, a p2p library, used for the setting up of the connection. Each Remote Desktop connection is encrypted with ssl, while the graphics are compressed with the WebM codec. Google is considering a specification for the protocol used to release as soon as it is mature enough it. The source code is, however, already in the Chromium project.
