Watch: Amriso Grass against Erosion
The objective of the project: prevention of landslides by planting Amrisogras and other Biotechniken
Implementation: cultivation of Amrisopflanzen on demonstration facilities in landslide-prone areas of three Nepal safe districts: in the villages Tilahar, Bhatkhola and Sarangkot. Construction of drainage channels
Project volume: Between 2012-2017 the project for the demonstration facilities of 30,000 euros from the International climate protection initiative in the framework of the EPIC programme (Ecosystems Protecting Infrastructure and Communities)
At the last monsoon in July 2015 in the Nepalese Region of Kaski have been buried by landslides about 30 people. A consequence of climate change – increasingly frequent heavy rain. With retaining walls and drainage trenches, the people prepare for the future. Greatest hopes is an inconspicuous Plant: the Amriso Grass. Its roots hold the earth, save water, and braking, the valley falling tide. For the people of the extremely steep Himalayan Region is possibly the rescue.
